Serra do Mel Zero Waste Project

Diagnosis of waste management in the municipality and socioeconomic reality, advisory services to the City Hall for the elaboration of the municipal waste management policy, and creation of the Zero Waste Environmental Education Plan.

This initiative contributes to SDGs: 11, 12

Results:

• Municipal diagnosis of solid waste management;
• Elaboration of the Environmental Education Plan involving various actors such as schools, large generators, and the general population;
• Training of technicians and managers from the environment and infrastructure departments on good practices for solid waste management at the municipal level;
• Support for drafting the Municipal Waste Management Policy bill with the two municipal departments and monitoring its legislative processing.
