In partnership with the Education Management Unit (UGE) of Jundiaí, visits were conducted to install and present stingless bee hives of the Jataí species in 50 Municipal Basic Education Schools (EMEBs). Children, teachers, and staff received training on the care and importance of bees for maintaining and promoting biodiversity, food production, and sustaining life on Earth.
Indirectly, an even greater benefit can be estimated due to the improvements bees bring to the region they inhabit, both for food production and the increase of green areas through pollination. In total, the schools are distributed across 40 different neighborhoods in Jundiaí/SP.
This initiative contributes to SDGs: 4, 11, 13
Results:
- Implementation of 50 Jataí bee hives;
- Training of 108 educators from the 50 schools;
- Creation of 3 educational animated videos about bees and their importance for life on Earth, distributed to students and their families;
- Donation of 100 books about bees to the schools.
